Welcome to our 62nd Season
(2011-2012)

The third concert of the 2011-2012 Season is
The Scott Woods Band
on Saturday, February 4, 2012:

Scott Woods sitting on a steam locomotive with a violin

Scott Woods studied classical violin from age four. He also plays several other instruments, but his favorite is fiddle — whether it’s classical, jazz, big band, country, swing, Celtic, or old time music. His love of fiddling has been passed down through six generations of his family.

Two-time winner of the Canadian Open Fiddle Contest, two-time winner of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships, and Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the Year are perhaps Scott’s most-prized titles. However, he has won competitions and performed throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. Scott can turn somersaults and step dance while playing the fiddle. For seven years Scott was the musical director and played the part of Don Messer in Memories of Don Messer’s Jubilee which toured extensively in Canada.

The Scott Wodds Show has played to sell out audiences wherever it is booked. Scott Woods combines his superb playing ability with a wonderful sense of humour, along with other talented musicians who join him onstage. This is truly a show to be enjoyed.

This fast-paced 2-hour concert skillfully combines old time fiddling with country gospel songs, perennial favorites, and a generous helping of humor. You'll be treated to one of Canada's best talents – the man with the folying fingers and the magic bow-fiddling sensation, Scott Woods. Scott has performed to enthusiastic crowds throughout Canada, the US, and also in Holland.

This young man has captured all the major Canadian fiddling titles, including Canadian Open Fiddle Champion, Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Champion, and Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the year.

There are lots of things to watch for when Scott Woods takes the stage. His keen sense of timing and his sharp wit will keep you on your toes. And speaking of toes, just try to keep them still as he plays those old time tunes! Scott is backed up by his own four-piece show band, which will include another fiddler, guitar/banjo, bass, and drums, one of whom is also a cahmpion step-dancer. Together they stir up a storm of good music to lift your heart and feed your sould.

If you enjoy old time country and fiddle music, do not miss this performance.
